Brian Newby and Wendy Davis are well credentialed, both academically and through their legal and public service experiences. Brian Newby formerly served as Governor Rick Perry’s General Counsel and Chief of Staff. Prior to engaging in that work, Mr. Newby was a partner in the firm of Cantey Hanger LLP, where he returned as Counsel in 2009. Mr. Newby also serves as a Brigadier General in the Texas Air National Guard JAG. Additionally, Mr. Newby served on the Texas Tech University Board of Regents as its vice chairman from 1999-2005. He is a graduate of Texas Tech University and the University of Texas Law School. Wendy Davis currently serves as a State Senator, representing District 10 which covers much of Tarrant County. Prior to her election to the Senate, Ms. Davis served on the Fort Worth City Council for nine years. During that time, Ms. Davis was an active member of the North Central Texas Council of Governments Regional Transportation Council, where she served as chair in 2005. Ms. Davis was formerly with the law firm of Haynes & Boone, leaving the practice to dedicate her full time to the growth of her title insurance company, which was sold in 2004.
